Who it is for
- Tabletop role-playing players and game masters who need a quick D20, a damage pool or a set of ability scores.
- Board-game groups missing a die, or playing somewhere real dice are impractical.
- Teachers and students using dice for probability lessons, classroom games or a fair random pick on a shared screen.
- Anyone who needs an unbiased number or letter and wants to see exactly how it was produced.
How results are generated
Every die is drawn in your browser from the Web Crypto random number generator, using rejection sampling so that each face has exactly the same chance. Nothing about a roll is sent to a server. The dice rolling guide explains why repeats and uneven short runs are still normal.
How the content is produced
Every page is written for this site. Ranges, averages and probability tables are calculated from the dice themselves, and the tables are generated by the same formulas that the tools use, so the text and the roller cannot disagree.
The D&D modes (advantage, disadvantage and 4d6 drop lowest) are paraphrased from the free basic rules published on D&D Beyond, checked in October 2026. The site describes ordinary dice mechanics only and leaves rule interpretation to your table.
Editorial principles
- Accuracy first: a number on a page must be reproducible from a formula or a cited source.
- Say what a tool does not do as clearly as what it does, for example that there are no shared multiplayer rooms.
- No invented reviews, ratings, testimonials, experts or usage statistics.
- Game names describe possible uses only. The site is not affiliated with any game publisher.
- Corrections are welcome and are made on the page itself.
How pages are checked
Before any change is published, automated checks roll known example values through the real code: advantage on 14 and 5 with a +5 modifier must total 19, the ability-score example must give 15, 11, 14, 15, 8 and 14, and every face of every supported die must be reachable without bias. The same checks confirm that links work, that each page has one main heading and that pages remain usable on phones, with a keyboard and with a screen reader.
If you find an error, contact us with the page address and what you expected to see.
Independent by design
The Dice Roller is not affiliated with game publishers or search providers. Names of games describe possible uses; they do not imply an official product. The site shows no advertising and uses no analytics; see the privacy policy and the cookie policy.
Designed for a single session
No account or shared room is required. History is held in tab memory and clears on reload.
