How to roll a D6
This 6-sided dice roller starts with one die and 6 sides. Choose a count from 1 to 100 and a modifier, then roll. Every die is sampled independently.
D6 range and average
One unmodified D6 ranges from 1 to 6. Its expected face value is 3.5. For several dice, multiply that average by the count and add your modifier once.
| Roll | Lowest | Highest | Average |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1d6 | 1 | 6 | 3.5 |
| 2d6 | 2 | 12 | 7 |
| 3d6 | 3 | 18 | 10.5 |
| 4d6 | 4 | 24 | 14 |
| 5d6 | 5 | 30 | 17.5 |
| 10d6 | 10 | 60 | 35 |
Read the face before the modifier
The raw result is the number on the die. The total includes the modifier. Keep them separate when your game distinguishes a natural face from a modified total.
About the D6
The D6 is the familiar cube with pips from one to six, so this page shows each result as a flat die face with the number announced alongside. For a pair of D6s with doubles marked, use the two dice roller.
Try another die
Use the main dice roller for other sizes, including D3, D7 and D100. For D20 advantage or disadvantage, open the D&D dice roller. Nearby sizes: the D4 dice roller and D8 dice roller.
